Staying Alive in the Fall

At this point in the girls' elementary school careers, we have gotten used to a certain rhythm to the year.  One of the annual events is the Variety Show, and this year was the third time Callie participated and the first for Reese.  Each year the size of the group has expanded, and this year was the biggest of all because the younger siblings got in the game.

Laurie Preston always has an idea up her sleeve that will get the kids excited and the audience clapping.  It doesn't hurt to have a former drama teacher leading the charge, that's for sure.  This year the theme for their skit was dancing through the decades.  We went from the 1950s up through today.  Callie and Reese were part of the 1970s contingent and they rocked the sequins and funky designs.

Callie's soccer team ended the season on a fantastic high note when they won the end of the season tournament for their age group.  It was an interesting team because it had girls born in 2006 and 2007, which meant that we had 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.  But they came together quite well and played hard to pull out a 1-0 victory in the championship game.

It was a cold day, as you can see from what the girls were wearing, but they all played with a lot of heart.  Callie loved playing with her friends Addie and Holland, and they all loved the fact that the win got them a trophy.

Reese also ended her fall soccer season with a solid effort on the field and some goofiness with her Shark teammates.  Reese takes the game quite seriously, but she also loves to laugh and joke around on the sidelines.  It is a great combination for a 6-year-old when it comes to sports in general.

And once her last game had ended, Reese got to have an end of the season celebration at Fazolis with her teammates.  They are quite a fun group of girls, and it is great to see how much they enjoy hanging out together.  We'll see who is back next season.
