This trip down memory lane was both surprising and heartwarming. Surprising because both Zac and Sarah recalled so many memories of their visits when they were kids. And heartwarming because it reminded them that the smallest things can make the biggest difference.
Before the trip Zac had reached out to Beth and Ben, two of Dan's closest friends during his years in Pinedale. They were able to get together for lunch and Ben and Beth shared so many great stories, which is exactly what Sarah and Zac needed.
The first day they drove out to Cora to visit the place where Dan used to own property. It was exactly how they remembered it. They kept driving to head to a recommended hiking spot which was the first of two locations where they chose to spread Dan's ashes. This was a perfect spot because it was secluded and seemed to be visited only by locals.

Since part of the trip was also about being together, Zac and Sarah also booked a day long fly-fishing trip on a river near Pinedale. This was no ordinary fly-fishing trip. The weather was beautiful and the fish were literally biting like no tomorrow.
In the end, the brother and sister combo caught a total of eighteen fish. In true twin style they kept trying to outdo each other, and Zac was not pleased that Sarah maintained a lead throughout the day.
As you can imagine, this delighted Sarah to no end. Liam, the tour guide, was mellow, helpful, and made the day exactly what it needed to be. Most important, he stayed out of the competition and simply helped whoever had a fish on the line. Liam wasn't the one counting.
In the planning stages Sarah convinced Zac that it would be well worth their time to drive to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. Pinedale is great and all, but it is tough to travel out to Wyoming and not hit the national parks.
The weather was gorgeous, although there was still some snow on the hike around Jenny Lake. Zac was impressed with Jenny Lake, and together he and Sarah decided to venture off the beaten path to identify the final resting place for the remainder of Dan's ashes. They know that Dan will enjoy the beautiful view of the lake and the sound of a stream nearby.
They were able to spend a whole day driving around Yellowstone. Zac was a little reluctant at first but quickly was awestruck by the varied terrain and wildlife. They saw a couple dozen elk, hundreds of buffalo, and even a wolf. This picture doesn't truly capture all that they witnessed. Overall, this trip to Wyoming was better than anticipated and both Zac and Sarah hope to return with their families sooner rather than later.
